Joe and Jill Biden Join Philly Faithful as Dodgers Edge Phillies in NLDS

Jill Biden, a Willow Grove native, cheered on the Phillies with her husband as they fell to the Dodgers in a heartbreaking NLDS loss.

The Phillies’ playoff push drew some famous fans Monday night as former President Joe Biden and former First Lady Jill Biden were spotted at Citizens Bank Park, writes Alfred Lubrano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Phillies staged a dramatic ninth-inning rally but still fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3, putting them in a two-game hole as the series shifts to Los Angeles.

For Jill Biden, the visit was a homecoming of sorts. The Willow Grove native has long embraced her Philly sports roots, with her husband often describing her fandom as “rabid.”

Even during her years in the White House, she rarely missed the chance to support her teams. She attended the Phillies’ 2022 World Series run and the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory over Kansas City earlier this year.

Now living in Greenville, Delaware, the Bidens remain fixtures at local games, though this marked a rare public appearance for the former president. For Joe Biden, baseball has always been personal.

From his Little League days in Scranton to coaching his son Beau’s team in Delaware, the sport has played a central role in his life, even earning him induction into the Little League Hall of Excellence in 2009.
