Souderton’s Jamie Moyer Returns to Seattle for ALCS First Pitch

Souderton native Jamie Moyer threw the first pitch at Seattle’s ALCS Game 4, celebrating his Mariners legacy and Montco roots.

Souderton High School alum Jamie Moyer was back on the mound, at least ceremonially, before a packed house in Seattle last Thursday night, writes Zac Hereth for Seattle Sports.

The beloved left-hander threw out the first pitch of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, rekindling memories of his decade-long run with the Mariners.

Moyer, who pitched for Seattle from 1996 to 2006, remains one of the franchise’s all-time fan favorites, with a record of 145–87 and a 3.97 ERA. During that stretch, he helped lead the Mariners to three playoff appearances, including their iconic 2001 ALCS run — the team’s last before this year’s postseason push. He was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2015.

For the ceremony, Moyer joined other Mariners legends such as Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, and Lou Piniella, each honored with first-pitch duties during the playoff series.

A fixture in baseball history, as well as Montco and Phillies lore, Moyer’s success story from Souderton to the Major Leagues continues to inspire local athletes chasing big-league dreams.
