Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro Reflects on Life and Leadership in New Memoir

Abington native Governor Josh Shapiro’s memoir Where We Keep the Light arrives Jan. 27, exploring faith, family, and public service.

Governor Josh Shapiro, Abington native and Pennsylvania’s 48th governor, will soon add “author” to his résumé, writes Hillel Italie for the Associated Press.

His debut book, Where We Keep the Light: Stories From a Life of Service, is set for release January 27 through Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

At 52, Shapiro has become one of the Democratic Party’s most closely watched figures. He rose from local politics in Montgomery County to the governor’s mansion. Shapiro even landed on Vice President Kamala Harris’ shortlist for a running mate last year.

According to the publisher, Shapiro’s memoir “shares powerful stories about his family, his faith, and his career in public service,” reflecting on lessons learned from years spent “knocking on doors, serving his community, and bringing people together to tackle the tough problems we face.”

The book will also touch on a deeply personal chapter. Josh Shapiro discusses the April arson attack that set fire to the governor’s residence while Shapiro and his family were asleep inside. All escaped unharmed, and the man responsible was sentenced last week to up to 50 years in prison.
