Eastern University has launched a new online bachelor’s degree and minor in Criminal Justice. Students can apply now and begin classes in August 2026. These new programs expand Eastern’s commitment to accessible, high-quality education rooted in Christian values and social responsibility.

The bachelor’s degree program is designed for students seeking to understand and engage with the criminal justice system through the lens of ethics, restorative justice, and community impact. The fully online format provides flexibility for students who wish to advance their education and careers while balancing other commitments.

“This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field, blending the theoretical foundation with the practical application,” said Katie Farina, Program Director and Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Eastern. “Whether you’re starting your educational journey or looking to move up in your current field, our program offers the flexibility you need and the knowledge required to excel in any professional role.”

Students will explore topics such as criminology, victimology, corrections, social statistics, the judicial process, and more while drawing on criminological theories, applying valid and reliable research methodologies to criminal justice practices and using social statistics to analyze data. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, research, and ethical decision-making, preparing graduates to pursue meaningful roles in law enforcement, legal services, public policy, and nonprofit sectors.

Eastern’s new minor in Criminal Justice offers students in other disciplines the opportunity to complement their studies with a focused understanding of the criminal justice system, enhancing career readiness across a variety of fields.

“With the launch of these 100-percent-online Criminal Justice programs, Eastern is preparing the next generation of ethical leaders in law enforcement, legal services, and community advocacy,” said Tracey Greenwood, Dean of Eastern’s College of Health and Sciences. “We’re proud to offer a curriculum that blends practical knowledge with a heart for justice and service.”
