Bryn Mawr’s Aly McBride Takes Secondhand Advocacy to Capitol Hill

Bryn Mawr's Aly McBride turns her love of vintage into a thriving eBay business and joins the CEO to advocate in Washington.

Bryn Mawr businesswoman Aly McBride recently joined eBay CEO Jamie Iannone and top sellers from across the country on Capitol Hill, writes Richard Ilgenfritz for Main Line Times & Suburban.

McBride went to D.C. to share how the platform has empowered small businesses and strengthened local economies for three decades.

McBride’s journey began in 2007 while she was attending law school at Villanova University. What started as a side hustle, selling vintage treasures found in local thrift shops, evolved into a thriving e-commerce business and personal brand.

After working in private law practice, McBride stepped away to raise her family but soon rediscovered her entrepreneurial drive through her love of “treasure hunting.” She launched Main Line Find, an Instagram account and business that promotes sustainable shopping and helps others learn the art of buying and reselling secondhand goods.

McBride’s goal is to destigmatize secondhand shopping. “You can find amazing things at yard sales, at Goodwill, at Bryn Mawr Hospital’s thrift shop,” she said. “Even sourcing on eBay.”

Today, McBride travels nationally and abroad in search of unique pieces while using her platform to inspire others to start their own eBay ventures. Her message to newcomers: start small—often the best inventory is already in your home.
