The Rotary Club of Ambler, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, completed construction on a new picnic pavilion at Knight Park in the borough.
Knight Park is named after the club’s first president, Judge Harold Knight.
This meaningful addition to the community was made possible through year-long fundraising efforts and generous contributions from local businesses, including a $10,000 donation from Ambler Savings Bank.
The pavilion, purchased as a kit from a supplier in Lancaster, was delivered unassembled and constructed on-site to enhance the park’s welcoming atmosphere.
“As we celebrate 100 years, we really wanted to give back in a meaningful way,” said Kate Harper, Past President of the Rotary Club of Ambler. “The Rotary Club has always been about supporting our community — and this milestone felt like the perfect time to do something special.”
The pavilion was unveiled in June, with members of the Rotary Club, Ambler Mayor Jeanne Sorg, and Borough Council members in attendance. The new pavilion is now open for public use.
“We’re honored to support the pavilion project that will help bring people together and strengthen the community,” said Roger Zacharia, President of Ambler Savings Bank.
The Rotary Club of Ambler embodies the sentiments of the Rotary creed of “service above self” and is dedicated to the goals established by Rotary International. The club has been providing services to those in need throughout Ambler since 1925.
Ambler Savings Bank is a mutually organized community bank headquartered in Ambler with locations in Fairview Village, Limerick, and Bally, as well as several continuing care retirement facilities.
