Ambler Savings Bank Employees Volunteer in Honor of 150th Anniversary

Ambler Savings Bank employees volunteered at Montco Senior Adult Activities Center in Ambler.

To celebrate 150 years of service to customers and the community, Ambler Savings Bank’s four branch locations closed early on Sept. 17 for employees to volunteer.

The Bank partnered with five non-profit organizations across Montgomery and Berks counties. Over 50 employees spent the afternoon making an impact at the following organizations:

  • One House at a Time (OHAAT), Huntington Valley: OHAAT’s mission is to help families who are currently lacking resources to establish (or reestablish) a self-sufficient life by providing them with beds and bedding. Ambler Savings Bank employees helped pack bedtime bags for children and made no-sew blankets.
  • Family Promise Montco, Ambler: For more than 40 years, Family Promise Montco (formerly Inter-Faith Housing Alliance) has been serving vulnerable families in Montgomery County who are experiencing homelessness and hunger. Ambler Savings Bank Employees helped with yard work, tree trimming, and trash removal at the Hope Forest location.
  • Montco Senior Adult Activities Center (Montco SAAC), Ambler: Montco SAAC offers a variety of health and fitness classes, art classes, and diverse opportunities to socialize as well as social services, and meals-on-wheels to serve those in need. Ambler Savings Bank Employees painted the exterior doors of the Ambler Center as well as weeded and planted fall flowers.
  • Worthwhile Wear Thrift Shop, Collegeville: Worthwhile Thrift, a program of Worthwhile Wear, supports survivors of human trafficking. Bank employees sorted, tagged, and organized donations at the thrift shop.
  • St. Francis Catholic Academy, Bally: The school’s mission is to assist parents in the education of their children in mind, body, and spirit. Ambler Savings Bank employees helped weed and water the school’s greenhouse and did litter removal around the school grounds.

The idea was developed as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary Celebration events.

“Our employees have done days of service in the past but only at one location, during a weekend or holiday,” stated Carolyn Watson, Marketing Officer, Ambler Savings Bank. “The planning committee wanted to expand our community involvement to honor our 150th Anniversary.”

Employees also remarked on their positive experiences.

“What a nice way to spend a half day of work. Sharing a way to give to others is always enjoyable,” stated Claire Wunderlich, Collections Officer.

“It was a very nice day working all together for a great cause,” said Margaret Edgar, Human Resources Officer.
