Resurging Barnes & Noble Returns to Jenkintown’s Noble Town Center

Barnes & Noble returns to Montgomery County with a new Jenkintown store at Noble Town Center, joined by Shake Shack and DIG.

Barnes & Noble is making a comeback in Montco, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch

The national bookseller will open a brand-new location at the Noble Town Center in Jenkintown, filling the void left when its Willow Grove store closed a few years back.

The addition comes as part of the shopping center’s renovation at 901 Old York Road. Developer Paramount Realty has transformed a former Walgreens into four retail spaces. The lineup includes a Barnes & Noble, plus three restaurants—Shake Shack, DIG, and Honeygrow, along with a Laser Away treatment center. Honeygrow has already opened, with the others expected to follow soon.

The new Barnes & Noble continues a recent revival for the company. After years of declining store numbers, the bookseller has been rolling out a new design focused on community and curated by local booksellers.

A similar store debuted at Barn Plaza Shopping Center near Doylestown, drawing praise for its welcoming format and wide selection of books, games, and gifts.

The Noble Town Center is positioned along Old York Road in a busy retail corridor. It is already home to Trader Joe’s, Ross Dress for Less, ULTA Beauty, and PetSmart.

With demographics showing more than 422,000 residents within five miles and strong household incomes nearby, the center offers fertile ground for retail growth.
