Immaculata University has launched the Immaculata University Community Music School, a new program designed to provide high-quality music instruction and performance opportunities to learners of all ages and abilities from Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Berks counties and beyond.
Music has been a core part of Immaculata University’s identity since its founding in 1920. With a strong legacy of preparing music educators, performers, and therapists, the University now extends its musical mission to the broader community through this new music school.
“Building on Immaculata’s strong music traditions, the newly established Immaculata University Community Music School extends these opportunities even further,” said Joseph Gehring, Ed.D., Chair of the Music Department and Director of Ensembles. “Through the Community Music School, we can now provide exceptional music education to all students of music, not just to college students.”
The Immaculata University Community Music School offers students the option to take private lessons or group classes with the University’s distinguished faculty and trained student instructors. Lessons are available in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute weekly sessions, held either on campus or virtually. Programs run for 12 weeks each semester, with fall, spring, and summer options, and focus on technique, musicianship, repertoire, and performance skills.
As an All-Steinway School, Immaculata provides students access to world-class instruments in every studio and performance space, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. The new music school intends to also include masterclasses, ensembles, summer camps, and additional offerings. Participants are expected to provide their own practice instruments and will have multiple performance and recital opportunities throughout the program.
