Conshohocken’s nonprofit Team Foster teamed up with the Phillies to introduce Tugger, a 10-week-old yellow lab and service dog-in-training, writes 6abc Action News.
Named in honor of Phillies legend and Marine reservist Tug McGraw, Tugger made his national debut on Good Morning America and appeared at Citizens Bank Park during last Tuesday night’s game against the Padres.
Tugger’s journey is part of a mission to support veterans with disabilities, led by Team Foster and Warrior Canine Connection. He’ll attend games and community events as he prepares for his future role assisting a veteran living with the invisible wounds of war.
“My father loved the Phillies and took immense pride in his service with the United States Marine Corps,” said country singer Tim McGraw, Tug McGraw’s son. “My father would have felt deeply honored to have Tugger named in his memory.”
With roots in Montco and a big league debut behind him, Tugger’s training is just beginning—but his impact is already being felt.
