Nottingham-based snack company Herr’s plans to sell over one hundred acres of Nottingham land for the new Herr’s Farm project, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company has owned the 123-acre stretch of land since 1994. The sale is currently under agreement with E Kahn Development in Malvern.
Referred to as the Herr’s Farm project, the project plan was submitted to the Chester County Planning Commission in May. The current plan includes building three warehouses across a total of 940,640 square feet in addition to 941 parking spaces.
The new plan has been met with opposition from residents as well as township and county commissions.
After its review in June, the Chester County Planning Commission identified several issues with the proposal. Issues included the design of the buildings and the impact on the land’s natural features.
The East Nottingham Township Board of Supervisors denied the project’s previous plan in February due to the need for an updated wetlands study.
A longtime Philadelphia-area staple, Herr’s currently operates out of Nottingham. The headquarters and factory, where visitors can taste fresh chips off the production line, are just one mile from the proposed Farm project site.
E Kahn Development’s Eli Kahn shared that the township will likely review the updated plan in August.
