Citadel Credit Union recently teamed up with other regional credit unions to help combat food insecurity in the Greater Philadelphia area through a major donation to Philabundance.
Citadel team members — including Steve Miller, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement, and Kelbin Carolina, Community Outreach Specialist — joined representatives from other credit unions at the Philabundance headquarters on South Galloway Street. Together, they delivered more than $56,000 in monetary contributions and 3,900 pounds of food to support the region’s largest hunger relief organization.
Citadel contributed $10,000 toward the fundraising total, which comes at a critical time.
During the summer months, many children and families face increased food insecurity due to the absence of school meal programs. The credit unions’ initiative was designed to fill that gap, helping ensure that no child or family goes without access to healthy meals.
Philabundance serves nine counties across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, distributing millions of pounds of food each year through its network of partner agencies. The organization has reported increased demand in recent months as economic pressures stretch household budgets.
For Citadel, the donation aligns with its ongoing mission to build strength in the communities it serves. The credit union continues to prioritize philanthropic initiatives throughout the year, focusing on education, food security, and financial empowerment.
