Ardmore’s Merion Golf Club continues to stand out on the national stage, writes Ryan Sharrow in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Merion’s East Course in Ardmore, just outside of Montco claimed the number 6 spot once again in Golf Digest’s newly released list of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.
The historic club, which has hosted five U.S. Opens, is scheduled to welcome the event again in 2030 and 2050. Before that, Merion will co-host the 2026 U.S. Amateur Championship alongside Philadelphia Country Club.
Meanwhile, Newtown Square’s Aronimink Golf Club secured the No. 100 slot, sliding from No. 95 in 2023. The club, which hosted the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, will host the 2026 PGA Championship next May, marking a marquee moment for the region.
Also making the list is the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon course in Flourtown, which jumped four spots to No. 120 on the “Second 100” list. It recently drew national attention as host of the 2025 Truist Championship, further solidifying its elite reputation.
Topping the list overall is South Jersey’s Pine Valley Golf Club, which retained its No. 1 ranking—a position it has held since 2017.
