King of Prussia District has launched a new, year-round roadway cleaning initiative aimed at enhancing the appearance and vibrancy of some of Upper Merion Township’s busiest corridors.

The Clean Streets Litter Program, part of the District’s ongoing Physical Improvements strategy, kicked off last week and covers roadways that collectively see an average of 100,000 vehicles each day.

King of Prussia District has contracted Zizza Highway Services, based out of Glen Mills, to perform the litter removal. The Clean Streets Litter Program began with a three-day “blitz” along the Route 202, Route 422, and I-76 interchanges, which yielded 2,100 pounds of garbage collected. Additional areas — including Dekalb Pike, North Gulph Road, and Guthrie Road — will be added soon. After the initial effort, litter removal will occur monthly through November, then shift to a weekly schedule from December through the end of February. District staff will monitor litter conditions throughout the year and direct crews to focus on the most impacted areas during each service.

“With more than 61 million total trips into King of Prussia by visitors, employees, and residents in 2024, it’s challenging for state services alone to keep our roads consistently clean,” said Eric Goldstein, President and CEO of King of Prussia District. “Clean Streets is a natural addition to our Physical Improvements program, especially since many of these corridors are near the seven acres of landscaping that we’ve installed since 2010 and now maintain annually.”

By improving cleanliness and curb appeal along key travel routes, the Clean Streets Litter Program reinforces King of Prussia District’s broader mission to accelerate economic growth by making King of Prussia more vibrant, attractive, and prosperous. This project is supported in part by funds from the Upper Merion Board of Community Assistance.
