Arcadia University President Talks Student-Run Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic

President of Arcadia University, Ajay Nair, recently discussed the school’s student-run pro bono clinic for physical therapy in Glenside.

Arcadia University in Glenside is helping uninsured and underinsured community members access physical therapy through a student-run pro bono clinic, reports Keith Jones for NBC10 Philadelphia.

“It’s part of Arcadia University’s nationally recognized Doctor of Physical Therapy program,” said President of Arcadia University, Ajay Nair. “It offers no-cost physical therapy services to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. It’s probably one of the reasons why Arcadia’s DPT program is nationally ranked.”

The clinic serves both students and the community.

It plays “a very pivotal role in addressing health disparities,” said Nair. “Over the past four years or so we’ve served more than 3,000 uninsured or underinsured members of our community. It’s a win-win for the community for sure.”

The clinic has also partnered with the Philadelphia Marathon in order to raise funds in the hopes of reaching even more community members. It currently operates for just two days a week, but with increased support, both the hours and days of service could be expanded significantly.

“It’s a really great collaboration with the marathon and for the first time,” said Nair, “we’ll be able to offer this up to the community – to help support the pro bono clinic.”
