In an effort to prevent bankruptcy, Kohl’s is planning on closing 27 underperforming stores by April 2025, including one in Montgomery County, writes Kelly Tyko for Axios.
“As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams,” said Tom Kingsbury, Kohl’s outgoing CEO.
Kingsbury, who is stepping down on Jan. 15, will be succeeded by Michaels CEO Ashley Buchanan.
The Wisconsin-based retailer operates around 1,150 stores across the country, with the closures representing less than three percent of its total locations.
The Pottstown store, located at 351 W Schuylkill Road, is the only Pennsylvania location to be closed in this round.
