Over the past two years, Johnny’s Pizza in Bryn Mawr has earned a reputation as a cheesesteak destination. Its 12-ounce house-cut rib-eye sandwiches are generously portioned and thoughtfully assembled, with coarse-chopped meat and onions cooked together, seasoned just right, and topped with melty Cooper Sharp. Each one is served on a toasted, sesame-seeded whole-wheat potato roll.

Despite its name, Mama’s Pizzeria in Bala Cynwyd is best known for its cheesesteaks. For nearly five decades, second-generation owner Paul Castellucci prepares the steak the same way – with finely chopped sirloin mixed with a three-cheese blend. Grab one while you can: Castellucci plans to retire and close the iconic shop sometime in 2026.

Since opening in the summer of 2023, Verona Pizza in Maple Glen has become a favorite among local cheesesteak connoisseurs. Its standout cheesesteak features nearly a pound of hand-sliced ribeye and chunks of sautéed onions, all generously smothered in melty Cooper Sharp.
