Following Masters Win, Rory McIlroy Heads to the Philadelphia Cricket Club for the Truist Championship

New Masters champion Rory McIlroy will visit the Montco next month for the PGA Tour's Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

Newly crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy will visit the Montco next month for the PGA Tour’s Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, write Alexandra Simon and Nikki DeMentri for CBS News Philadelphia.

The tour announced that the sixth golfer in history to complete a career Grand Slam committed to the event just two days after his Masters victory.

“You know, by completing the Grand Slam and winning The Masters, sometimes their schedules can change,” said Joie Chitwood, executive director of the 2025 Truist Championship. “There’s a lot of commitments that go with that. So really pleased that he is going to defend here in Philadelphia.”

McIlroy, Truist’s defending champion, also won the tournament in 2010 at age 20, as well as in 2015 and 2021.

The 2025 Truist Championship will take place from May 7 to 11 at the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon course. The championship will air on CBS on May 10 and 11.

Founded in 1854, the Philadelphia Cricket Club is the oldest country in the nation. Its Wissahickon Golf Course opened in 1922.
