Greater Philadelphia’s burgeoning interest in professional golf is evident, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Soon, Flourtown will host the 2025 Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club and the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club.
Organizers report swift sales of hospitality suites, reflecting strong demand from the business community. This enthusiasm positions the region to attract more events, according to Ryan Ogle, Director of the 2026 PGA Championship.
Hospitality options for the 2026 PGA Championship are over 80% sold, with prices ranging from $55,000 to $495,000. Similarly, the 2025 Truist Championship experiences high demand, prompting plans for additional hospitality options ranging from $50,000 to $200,000. Ogle emphasizes the importance of local support in attracting more tournaments, noting factors like financial backing, ticket sales, and volunteer participation.
Local government cooperation in event logistics is crucial, as large tournaments like the PGA Championship can generate substantial economic impacts. Philadelphia’s rich reputation as a sports town aids its case for hosting annual tournaments, though existing schedules make this challenging.
While securing an annual PGA event is complex, the city benefits from rotational events like the U.S. Open, set to return to Merion Golf Club in 2030. As Greater Philadelphia hosts significant events alongside its rich sports tradition, hopes remain high for the city’s continued prominence in the golf world.
