Delaware County Boy’s Life Changed After Pope’s Blessing

A Pope Francis blessing in 2015 changed the life of a Delaware County boy coping with Sepsis and Leukemia.

Conall Harvey of Delaware County received a face-to-face blessing from Pope Francis in 2015 that his family considers a miracle, writes Tracy Davidson and Emily Rose Grassi for NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Harvey, now a teenager, had been a recent amputee living with Sepsis and Leukemia when he attended mass during the Pope’s 2015 visit to Philadelphia.

The Harvey family, with 5-year-old Conall in a wheelchair, sick from chemo, joined hundreds of the faithful crowded into the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul as the Pope celebrated mass.

“I just remember waking up at four in the morning. I was little so I was like, ‘What are we doing?’ I didn’t know who he was back then but I said, ‘Sounds important,’ Conall Harvey said.

The family was moved to the end of a pew. The next thing they knew,  Pope Francis came over to the family and blessed Conall.

“His little head was on the wheelchair and then Pope Francis just cradled his head and just said a blessing,” said Conall’s mom, Christin.

She credits the Pope’s intervention and the power of prayer and love for Conall’s life.

Ten years later, Conall  calls the Pope “a giant in every way.”
