Prospect Medical Holdings, the bankrupt owners of Crozer Health, had said it would close Crozer Health’s last two hospitals Thursday morning if it didn’t receive another $9 million by 4 PM Wednesday to keep the facilities running, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
However, in a brief statement Wednesday evening, a representative for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General said Prospect Medical Holdings had assured his offices there would be no closure notice issued Wednesday.
“Efforts to secure the $9 million remain ongoing,” said Brett Hambright, press secretary for the Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General
Pennsylvania and The Foundation for Delaware County have each chipped in $20 million to keep Crozer Health running, but that money has run out.
Negotiations continue on a plan to shift Crozer ownership to a consortium of nonprofit providers, but Curtin said he does not believe an asset purchase agreement transferring ownership is possible this week.
Meanwhile, Upper Darby School District announced Tuesday it has made a $2 million bid to purchase the closed Delaware County Memorial Hospital property.
The school district would tear down the hospital building for an undisclosed use of the land.
