The Norristown Area Robotics Club is gearing up for a trip to Dallas this May to compete in the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship, writes Rachel Ravina for The Reporter.
Team 255M from Norristown Area High School has already earned their spot on the world stage, with the possibility of up to three teams attending.
Students Joey Catagnus, Chane Ellis, Lucas Longenberger, Alex Rojas, and Elijah Salas addressed the school board this week, sharing how robotics has shaped their confidence, skills, and future plans. “Robotics has been the biggest part of my life for the last four years,” said Rojas. Salas added, “It’s been incredible.”
The board approved a proposal to support travel for up to 23 students and two chaperones, with estimated costs between $10,000 and $15,000. The high school team will compete May 5–9.
Team 255M has had a standout season, winning design, excellence, and tournament awards. At Monday’s meeting, they even gave a robot demonstration, impressing the board with their technical know-how.
For graduating seniors Ellis, Rojas, and Salas, this trip marks a meaningful final run—and a chance to represent Norristown with pride.
Said Catagnus, “It’s our last year as a full team so we just want to really represent as well as we could.”
