All-Star Sports Academy in West Chester is looking for potential acquisitions with the goal of expanding beyond the Philadelphia region, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company, which has seven locations for budding baseball and softball players in the region, is aiming to have as many as 30 sites in the next few years.
“The plan is to grow,” said Vince Russomagno Sr., the owner and CEO of All-Star Sports Academy. “I would like to get to between 25 and 30 facilities over the course of the next four years.”
Russomagno, a 1982 draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals who played a season in the minor leagues, is eyeing the I-95 corridor between Long Island, New York, and Baltimore for expansion.
The company’s current client base is primarily focused on baseball, but All-Star Sports Academy aims to add more coaches and training sites specializing in softball as part of its expansion into the highly fragmented, multibillion-dollar sports training industry.
So far Russomagno has not taken any outside investors and at present plans to continuing financing the expansion on his own.
