Crocheting Victory: Lafayette Hill Woman Crafts Super Bowl Champions from Yarn

Lafayette Hill's Suzanne Mastroeni combined her love for the Philadelphia Eagles with her talent for crochet to make mini Eagles dolls.

A Lafayette Hill woman has found a unique way to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory—by crocheting her own team of champions, writes Nick Iadonisi for Action News.

Suzanne Mastroeni, a retired accountant turned crafter, has created a full set of yarn dolls representing the Eagles’ offensive line. Her collection proudly displayed over her mantle, now includes quarterback Jalen Hurts holding a crocheted Lombardi Trophy.

“Their arms are up, they’ve got their New Orleans beads,” Mastroeni pointed out. “Saquon even has an earring.”

Mastroeni has been crocheting since childhood but picked it up again while recovering from cancer, making hats for herself. Now healthy, she enjoys crafting in her spare time.

When the Eagles started to pick up momentum, she started on a new project.

Each doll is meticulously handcrafted, from the jerseys to the facial features. The most intricate part? The hair.

“They take about ten hours in total,” she explained.

For Mastroeni, this project is more than just a hobby—it’s her way of celebrating the sport she loves, one stitch at a time.
