Avelo Airlines Taps Into Wilmington Airport’s Potential to Expand Flight Options for Philadelphia Suburbs

Avelo Airlines recognizes the untapped potential of Wilmington Airport and is stepping in to offer a boost in flight options.

Avelo Airlines has recognized the untapped potential of Wilmington Airport and is stepping in to offer Chester County and the entire Philadelphia suburbs a convenient and much-needed boost in flight options, writes Jacob Passy for The Wall Street Journal

The upstart carrier has been targeting airports with a sizable catchment area – referring to the broader population living within a certain radius of the facility – where the population is currently underserved when it comes to available flights.

In addition to Wilmington Airport, the airline has found markets with similar dynamics in both Connecticut (Bradley International Airport and Tweed New Haven Airport) and Lakeland, Florida

“I’ve recognized the ability and seen the value of going into airports that are underutilized because of the convenience that affords customers,” said Avelo Chief Executive Andrew Levy

However some details still need to be worked out, including crowding that can lead to long lines, limited seating, as well as the currently insufficient parking spaces, and lack of food options.
