Ambler-based Alpha & Omega Logistics Shuts Down After Losing Amazon Contract

Ambler-based Alpha & Omega Logistics has had to close its doors after its contract with Amazon was abruptly terminated, affecting 110 workers, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor notes that the January 10 closure was due to “unforeseeable business circumstances.”

The Montgomery County firm was part of the e-commerce giant’s delivery service partner network, a huge collection of independent companies that provide last-mile delivery services for Amazon.

According to Alpha & Omega founder Peter Kyriakodis, the company’s contract was terminated for a breach of contract for minor infractions, including a seatbelt and a horn malfunction. Kyriakodis noted that those infractions took place last year, before Amazon renewed the company’s contract in October.

Alpha & Omega Logistics received notification that its contract had been terminated after the holiday season, during which the team delivered around 750,000 packages for the retailer.

Kyriakodis added that his company, founded in August 2020, was among the top 20 percent of Amazon’s delivery service partners based on safety, reliability, and quality.

Alpha & Omega Logistics employees were not represented by a union. Read more about Alpha & Omega Logistics in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
