Two Promising Montco Health Startups Join University City Capital Readiness Cohort

The University City Science Center admits four Philadelphia-area health startups to their sixth Capital Readiness cohort. Two are from Montco.

Two Montgomery County health tech startups have been selected for the University City Science Center’s sixth Capital Readiness cohort. The program helps early-stage companies refine pitches, navigate due diligence, and attract investors.

Local Participants Highlighted:

Pain Specialists Group (Bala Cynwyd): Creating a Peripheral Nerve Stimulator implant to relieve pain in areas like the back, knees, and shoulders.

Vizmoo (Wynnewood): Developed a music-and-dance virtual reality platform offering movement-based therapeutic interventions for the neurodiverse community.

Other regional startups include Robossis of Cherry Hill, developing a surgical robot for long bone fractures, and Toivoa of Newark, Delaware, focused on software-based mental health treatments for workplaces.

The five-day bootcamp, running Dec. 9–13, connects participants with investors and experts, providing resources to de-risk their ventures. “We’re committed to providing founders with the resources, mentorship, and market access they need to de-risk their companies and earn investor confidence in a highly competitive market,” said Tiffany Wilson, Science Center CEO.

Now in its sixth cohort, the program has supported 50 startups, which have collectively raised $35 million. Notable alumni include Trace Orthopedics of Philadelphia, which secured $2.2 million to advance minimally invasive tendon repair procedures.

The Capital Readiness program receives support through grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Economic Development Administration
