Cheltenham Township has received a proposal from Foxlane Homes to develop 43 townhomes on Willow Grove Avenue in Glenside, writes Ryan Genova for Glenside Local.
The Planning Commission will review the project on December 16. The Building and Zoning Committee will review it on January 6. Finally, it goes to the Zoning Hearing Board in January, according to Henry Sekawungu, the township’s Director of Zoning and Planning.
Fort Washington’s Foxlane Homes plans to include two off-street parking spaces per unit, private open space, and a stormwater management facility. The 42-acre site, currently vacant, was previously approved for a 216-unit, age-restricted apartment complex through a court settlement. That plan, submitted by the previous owner Hansen-Lloyd, featured eight four-story buildings and 388 parking spaces.
Despite initial approvals, the earlier development faced significant challenges. “They went back and forth with the township, and ultimately none of the iterations proposed went anywhere,” Sekawungu said.
Foxlane’s townhome proposal marks a new chapter for the site. Updates on the development’s progress will be shared as it advances through the township’s review process.
