St. Joe’s Field Hockey Team Achieves Highest National Ranking Yet

The St. Joe's field hockey team ranked fifth in the country last week, achieving the highest ranking in program history.

The St. Joe’s field hockey team is having an amazing season, writes Matt Leon for KYW Newsradio.

The Hawks are currently 13-2 and last week achieved a new first by becoming fifth in the nation. That is the highest ranking in the program’s history as well as the highest ranking of any of the university’s programs since men’s basketball two decades ago.

“The one thing that we’ve really been focused on is truly taking it game to game and not looking ahead,” said head coach Hannah Prince.

She explained that this allows the team to look at what needs to be done in each game to achieve success as well as figuring out how to find the best ways exploit the faults of their opponents.

“That sort of mentality of making sure those two things are taken care of has really helped with our success,” said Prince.

The Hawks are currently one of the best-attacking teams in the nation. They now lead Division I in goals and assists, as well as in points per game.
