The Upper Moreland Swim Club hosted its 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, reports Alicia Vitarelli for 6ABC. The annual tradition took place over Labor Day weekend.

The swim club in Hatboro welcomed children to compete in a race across the length of the pool using a homemade boat made entirely of cardboard and duct tape. The rules stipulate that duct tape can cover up to half of the boat.

Attendees gathered to watch the creative displays of ingenuity and design of the floating contraptions. Some boats were built for function and others for style.

Contestants could win the regatta by either staying afloat and finishing the race first, or by sinking in dramatic fashion.

The winner of this year’s Cardboard Boat Regatta was the Foreman family and their boat, the Foremanship.
