The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg announced the winners of the Art of the State Awards and Montgomery County was among the top.

“From established masters to emerging talents, this year’s showcase features a wide range of styles and mediums,” said State Museum Director Angelica Docog.

A jury panel of art experts selected 96 works out of over 2,200 submissions. Of the selections, artist and curator Jim Toia selected first, second, and third-place prizes.

Holly Layman of Perkiomenville took first place in the sculpture category for her work. Proper Chopper Bobber, a motorcycle sculpture made of recycled cardboard.

Also from Montgomery County, Walter Plotnick of Elkins Park took third place in photography for his work, “Cuddle Dance.”

The State Museum will display the winners in an exhibit now through January.
