Gladwyne Estate Once Owned By Campbell Soup Heir Now Off the Market
The iconic Gladwyne estate that was once home to a Campbell Soup heir has been sold at an auction, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
This marks the end of a more than decade-long ordeal that saw the estate go on and off the market and endure multiple configurations aimed to sell the property.
The buyer and family are reportedly from the Greater Philadelphia area.
With the sale not yet closed, the buyers’ details have not been recorded in Montgomery County records and are being kept confidential.
The winning bidder purchased the two parcels in separate transactions with plans to use them as a combined estate.
“We’re thrilled that it’s a local family that will raise their kids there, much like the sellers did with their family,” said listing agent Lisa Yakulis of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty. “It really continues the legacy of that property being a family compound, destination, gathering spot, into the future, which is wonderful. That was what we were hoping for all along.”
In the final moments of the online bidding on May 22, Linden Estate (the property’s main home) had a bid of $4.5 million, while Linden Court (a residence and large garage) had a bid of $2.5 million.
