Fans nostalgic for diners have a shot at owning their own retro Pennsylvania dining car, writes Hannah Frishberg for The New York Post.
A classic Fodero Dining Car is in need of some repairs after serving as a local eatery in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania, for decades. It’s being sold on Facebook for $35,000.
“Looking to sell as a complete unit, not interested in selling parts. In fair condition,” seller Mike Weaver wrote in his listing for the restaurant-vessel on Facebook Marketplace.

A word of caution. The stainless steel dining car does not include the lot where it sits so you’re going to have to move it, then find some real estate to either display it, operate it, or store it.
“We own the property and plan to repurpose it,” Weaver told The Post.
Much of the interior is still intact and includes classic red and blue booths inside.
The diner car served Pennsylvania Dutch food for 35 years as Risser’s Family Restaurant, or Risser’s diner, until it closed after its proprietor, Ernie Risser, passed away in 2014.
Three business partners bought it the next year, renovated it and reopened it as the Blue Star Restaurant, renamed the Rocky Family Restaurant in 2018.
