Montgomery County Community College’s Theatre Arts Program, Drama Club and West End Student Theater is hosting two captivating performances set to grace the Montco Cultural Center stages in April –  “Homefree” by Lisa Loomer and “Lost Girl” by Kimberly Belflower.

Directed by Theatre Assistant Professor Tim Gallagher, students in MCCC’s West End Student Theatre and Theatre Arts Program will present “Homefree” in North Hall 228 at the College’s Pottstown Campus.

Performances will be held April 11-13 at 7 PM, April 12 at 12:30 PM and April 14 at 2 PM. Free parking is available in the College’s South Hall parking lot.

“Homefree” is a dark urban fairy tale about three cast-out teens and the flip side of the American dream. Their journey is described as “crazy, funny and frightening,” as they explore what is home and what their relationship means to them and each other. Please note that this production contains mature content.

Following “Homefree,” students in the Drama Club and Montgomery County Community College’s Theatre Arts Program will present “Lost Girl,” directed by Theatre Instructor Rob Heller, on the Blue Bell Campus.

Performances will be held April 25 at 8 PM, April 26 at 12:30 PM and 8 PM, April 27 at 2 PM and 7 PM and April 28 at 2 PM. Free parking is available in the Morris Road and Science Center parking lots.

“Lost Girl” is a coming-of-age experience of first love and lasting loss and continues the story of the J.M. Barrie’s beloved character, the girl who had to grow up.

In the story, Wendy decides, long after returning from Neverland, that she must find Peter in order to reclaim her kiss and move on with her life.

“The students have been pouring their energy and creativity into rehearsing for these productions,” said Gallagher. “They are eager to share their hard work with their peers and community members, inviting them to become fully immersed in the intriguing shows. We hope the audience will not only enjoy the experience but also be moved by the talent and dedication of our students.”

Tickets are on sale now for both shows and are $15 for adults, and $10 for students, seniors and children. Order your tickets on Montgomery County Community College’s website.

The student performances are part of MCCC’s newly launched Montco Cultural Center, the platform for the College’s arts and cultural programming and venues, including the newly renovated, 563-seat theater in Blue Bell, the Black Box Theatre, North Hall theater, and the fine arts galleries at both campuses.
