The Montgomery County Community College Drama Club and Theater Arts Program will present their reimagined Henrik Ibsen’s play “Hedda Gabler.”

The play is adapted and directed by MCCC Theatre Arts Professor Jessica DalCanton and will run through November 14 to 17 at the College’s Black Box Theatre at Central Campus in Blue Bell.

DalCanton chose to showcase the hilarity and heartbreak of Hedda Gabler through a non-binary lens.

Its inclusive storytelling was welcomed by Assistant Director Diomira Keane, who shared her excitement over taking part in the reimagining of the classic play.

“Now more than ever, it is important to bring discussions surrounding the LGBTQ+ community to the public,” said Keane. “The inclusion of a non-binary character in a classic play such as ‘Hedda Gabler’ requires our audience to confront and challenge their perception of gender identity and will hopefully encourage them to open their minds and hearts.”

Performances will run from November 14 to 16 at 7 p.m., plus November 15 at 12:30 p.m., and November 17 at 2 p.m.

Tickets at $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors are available here or by calling 215-641-6518.
