She’s also a top-performing track and field athlete in the nation.

With a ranking of No. 5 among track and field recruits, she excels in the long jump, 100-meter, and 200-meter dashes, and recently clinched the long jump championship at her final Penn Relays.

Avery’s journey in athletics began in childhood, competing in the AAU Junior Olympic Games and holding multiple state records. She claimed PAISAA titles in the 100 and 200 meters and the long jump last year.

Avery’s commitment extends beyond high school athletics as she is set to continue her sporting career at the University of Southern California. She dreams of turning professional and, ultimately, competing in the Olympics

As her high school chapter closes, Avery reflects on the sacrifices and challenges along the way, including a significant pause during the COVID-19 pandemic which saw her training intensify in North Carolina.
