Former Bryn Mawr Republican Eric Settle Joins as Candidate for PA Attorney General
Eric Settle, a former Republican from Bryn Mawr, has joined the state attorney general’s race as a candidate for the recently formed Forward Party, writes Kenny Cooper for the WHYY.
“Today it is time to move forward,” said Settle on Tuesday, during a press conference. “Today, I’m honored to help lead a new movement that looks at both major parties and says there must be a better way to solve problems.”
The Forward Party launched in 2022 as a self-proclaimed centrist political party. The party announced Settle’s bid with events in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia.
Settle is joined by former Democrat Chris Foster from Allegheny County as his running mate. Foster is running for treasurer.
“This will not be easy,” said Settle. “When you’re trying to build something new there will be skepticism and hostility. And if we are successful there will be attacks by the established parties, because the status quo works for them but not for you.”
Most recently, Settle served on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s transition team. He got his start in politics under former Gov. Tom Ridge as deputy general counsel.
