Previously known as Tehrani Brothers, the local Oriental rug business was forced to change its name to Bryn Mawr Oriental Rugs after constant threats, writes Linda Stein for the Mainline Nedia News.

The business was founded by brothers Reuben, Benjamin, and Yehuda Tehrani. However they began receiving threatening phone calls from people telling them to return to where they came from when the store had its original name. The exterior of the store was also vandalized and the sign was stolen.

The brothers believe this was a reaction to “the hostility of the Iranian regime to America,” Reuben Tehrani said.

He started in the Oriental rug business after graduating college in 1977. The brothers joined him in 1984 and soon they had enough money to open their own store in Wayne. Later they added the Bryn Mawr store, which is now their only location.

Their clientele over the years has included a number of celebrities, including M. Night Shyamalan, Patti LaBelle, and Darren Daulton.

“Our business is based on honesty and integrity,” said Reuben Tehrani.
