‘We Know We Can Count on Their Support’: Ambler Savings Bank Recognized for 150 Years of Service
Last week, Ambler Savings Bank hosted a celebration with more than 120 guests — including customers, community members, and local government officials — in honor of its 150th anniversary.
“I’m honored to share this incredible moment with you and present Ambler Savings Bank with a proclamation in recognition of your 150 years of service,” said State Sen. Maria Collett.
Others offering proclamations included:
- Tom DiBello, Montgomery County Commissioner
- Jeanne Sorg, Mayor of Ambler
- Rafia Razzak, from the office of State Rep. Melissa Cerrato
- Kevin Shivers, President of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers
“The Ambler Borough is thankful for the longstanding support of Ambler Savings Bank to the ongoing needs of the community,” said Sorg. “From the Main Street festivals to police and fire departments, we know we can count on their support.”
Ambler Savings Bank President and CEO Roger Zacharia highlighted the reasons behind the bank’s success, while Bob King, the bank’s Facilities Manager and President of Ambler Main Street, addressed its history.
“This institution has always been a leader of the pack in the industry,” said King. “It was the first association to be granted a state charter in Montgomery County in 1874 and, in 1939, began to insure savings up to $5,000, ahead of the incorporation of the FDIC.”
The bank was chartered before the town was named Ambler to provide financing for local residents to purchase and build homes. Since then, it has served the community by offering loans, deposit accounts, and philanthropic support.
The bank has grown to employ 60 people with four branches and offices in three retirement communities across Montgomery and Bucks counties. The bank offers a wide range of business and personal banking solutions, delivered with personalized service as well as the latest digital banking tools.
Ambler Savings Bank remains independent under the governance of a cooperative Board of Trustees and is committed to serving the best interests of customers and the local community. The bank supports local nonprofits, specifically in the areas of education, affordable housing, social services, and community development.
