Lansdale’s Environmental Advisory Commission is hosting a “bat release” event on May 10, aiming to educate participants about the ecological importance of bats, writes Justin Heinze for The Patch.

Scheduled just after sunset, the event will highlight bats’ role in ecosystem health, species diversity, and the significance of backyard conservation for their survival in Pennsylvania.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet education bats and learn about the efforts of the Pennsylvania Bat Rescue to protect these creatures.

The event promises an engaging experience as bats are expected to take flight around 8:30 PM, demonstrating their incredible flying abilities and their vital role in controlling insect populations by consuming up to half their body weight in insects each night.

Despite common misconceptions, bats do not attack humans and are crucial for a healthy environment. Participation is limited to 60 attendees, requiring pre-registration.
