Forest & Main Brewing, an Ambler-based brewery, is bringing a UK and Seattle tradition back to Philadelphia this March, writes Ali Mohsen for BillyPenn.

March Mildness now in its fourth year and is being celebrated at various breweries across Philly.

During March, come into Forest & Main and ask for a March Mildness card. Every time you consume a mild British-style ale on-site at one of the participating breweries, you get a stamp.

“It’s not the most popular beer style,” Forest & Main co-owner Gerard Olson said. “But it is a beer style that a lot of brewers and a lot of industry people really love.”

It is a good choice if you are looking for simpler flavors or are suffering from “palate fatigue,” he added.

The person with the most stamps at the end of the month is crowned Mild Master and gets to drink milds on the house for a month.

The concept for March Mildness originally came from Bill Arnott, the UK native who founded the Seattle-based brewery Machine House.

The owners of Forest & Main asked permission to adapt the idea. Forest & Main is known for English-inspired ales and barrel-aged saisons.
