InBody Co. Ltd. has chosen Audubon for the location of its new U.S. subsidiary InBody BWA Inc., writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The South Korean medical device company specializes in body composition technology and has been searching for a site for its newest business unit. It recently chose Audubon over big cities like Boston and New York.

InBody BWA is starting out with 12 employees but hopes to grow to 20 by the end of the year.

InBody BWA CEO Mary Weyrick said the company selected the Philadelphia region “because of quality of life and the caliber of the hospitals, universities and talent in this area.”

The CEO of InBody Co. Rami Lee attended Penn State University and said she had “a lot of fond memories of Pennsylvania.”

InBody BWA plans on selling its body composition analyzers directly to medical professionals at hospitals and doctors’ offices and hopes eventually to also open an office in Center City.

The analyzer tests a person’s muscle mass and body fat and is used by research facilities, fitness and training centers, and wellness programs as well as the U.S. Marine Corps.
