Ambler Veteran Creates Journal for Fellow Veterans to Share Their Stories

By

Ambler veteran Sharon Cooke-Vargas enjoys being involved with fellow veterans and has created a book for veterans to record their own journeys for other generations to learn from, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

Cooke-Vargas enlisted in the United States Army as a teenager and served her country for 20 years before retiring.

Now she stays connected to her fellow veterans through the American Legion Post #769 and through her own company, The Journal Box.

Cooke-Vargas is a talented illustrator, designer, and artist and she shares her talent through her collection of planners, journals, and logbooks.

I Am a Veteran — My Story” is one of her special creations for veterans. It is filled with prompts and blank spaces for them to record their stories.

“I’m hoping that people will take this book and get it to as many veterans as possible because so many stories are lost,” she said. “And it’s just amazing, the experiences that people have gone through, and we want to make sure that their stories are not forgotten.”
