Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood and two other Philadelphia-area hospitals made Healthgrades’ list of the 50 best medical centers in the United States for 2024, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The other two local hospitals recognized were Riddle Hospital in Media, another member of the Main Line Health System, and the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Chester County Hospital in West Chester.

“We are proud of receiving this recognition for delivering safe, high-quality, affordable, and equitable health care at our hospitals,” Main Line Health said in a statement.

“This is a tribute to all our employees, whose dedication to our patients shines through every day.”

Denver-based Healthgrades based its analysis on clinical performance across 30 common procedures and conditions. Almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide were included in the analysis.

Also, in the Top 50 are Reading Hospital in Berks County and Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster County.

Reading Hospital is a member of the Tower Health System which also includes hospitals in Pottstown and Phoenixville.

The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania was the only Philadelphia region medical center to rank first in three categories: cardiac care, cranial neurosurgery, and gastrointestinal surgery.
