Philadelphia-based American Medical Response Mid-Atlantic has laid off 152 employees after losing a major contract with Main Line Health, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Main Line Health is the parent company for several local hospitals, including Lankenau Medical Center in Paoli, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, and the Mirmont Treatment Center in Media.

The health care system also has outpatient health centers in Broomall, Collegeville, Concordville, Exton, and Newtown Square.

Last month, Main Line Health entered into a three-year contract with Ambulnz, a New York-based DocGo subsidiary, for medical transportation services to its hospitals in the Philadelphia region.

Under the contract, Ambulnz, which has a Langhorne office, will provide transportation to an estimated 12,000 Main Line Health patients annually.

The company is starting the contract with ten ambulances and eight wheelchair vans committed to Main Line Health’s medical centers.

Additionally, DocGo will provide remote monitoring of patients to Main Line Health’s health system network. This includes its hospitals and post-acute care health centers, as well as home care, hospice, and physician networks.
