Goodwill Keystone Area is opening a store in Pottstown this spring, writes Donna Rovins for The Mercury.

To help build up inventory for and bring attention to the opening of the new location, Goodwill Keystone Area held a donation drive on January 20.

Mark McGaffin, director of communications and marketing for Goodwill Keystone Area, said that the new store is slated to open mid-to-late April.

He added that the expansion marks Goodwill Keystone Area’s return to the Pottstown area.

“Pottstown was once a part of our retail mix, and we are excited to reestablish our presence in this vibrant community.”

The 26,000-square-foot store in the Pottstown Plaza shopping center will include about 20,000 square feet of space for the sales floor. There will also be a covered, drive-up donor area on the south side of the building.

Goodwill will continue hosting donation drives up until the opening. The next one is scheduled for February 17.

On that day there will also be a hiring event and Goodwill will be introducing its mobile learning lab to the community. The lab provides access to vocational programs and job readiness services. McGaffin said.
