Casey Harter, a Souderton Area High School graduate, and basketball star, is starting to make an impact during her freshman campaign at Northwestern, writes Andrew Robinson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

For her high school coach, Lynn Carroll, this does not come as a surprise. Over the four years she coached her, Carroll watched Harter grow from a defensive specialist who was reluctant to shoot to a Division I prospect.

When Harter decided to continue her basketball career at Northwestern, her former coach believed it was just a matter of time before she was getting minutes and contributing during them.

She was right. Harter has started six games for the Wildcats out of 14 played so far and she is using her time on the court to the maximum.

Carroll recently took her entire Southerton team to watch Harter and her team take on Tempe. The Wildcats won 72-68.

Harter “played great, she had so many people there to see her, she’s playing with so much confidence, it was awesome,” said Carroll. “It was really cool for our girls to experience that.”
