Barcade will be opening a second Philadelphia location in Center City, more than a decade after the first one was opened in Fishtown.

Barcade, a hybrid arcade and bar venue, will open its second Philadelphia location at Chestnut and Juniper streets at the end of the month, writes John Paul Titlow for Phillyvoice

Located inside the historic Hale building, the Center City Barcade will feature more than 70 games across two floors, 24 lines of craft beer, and a varied food menu.

The first Philadelphia location opened up in Fishtown on Frankford Avenue in 2011.

The Barcade concept was born in New York with the first location opening in Brooklyn in 2004.

Nearly 20 years later, there are 10 total Barcade locations across New York; Philadelphia; Detroit; Los Angeles; New Haven, Connecticut; Newark, and Jersey City, New Jersey

It’s become known for serving craft beer and its wide selection of vintage arcade games and pinball machines primarily from the 1980s and 1990s.

Some of the Classic video games include Tetris, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, and Pac-Man.

The food and beverage options include sandwiches, hot dogs, tacos, desserts, wine, and cocktails.

The original plan was to open the new Philadelphia location in 2021; however, the pandemic and other circumstances caused delays.

It officially opened its doors on Saturday, December 30.
