The idea behind Philadelphia Craft Ice which is based in Ambler is that even the ice cubes in your drink deserve to be special, writes Zoe Greenberg for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Co-owners Chris Vandegrift and Noah Sokoloff take their ice very seriously. They believe you should never settle for using the cloudy ice cubes made in a freezer mold in your cocktails.

That is why they perfected a clear ice that will shimmer in your drink elevating your cocktail experience.

To make their diamond like 2-inch ice cubes, it takes about three days and the use of water filters, industrial freezers, and bandsaws.

Their company has been taking off in the midst of a current trend in the cocktail world for specialty ice cubes. They have accounts with Martha and Post Haste in Kensington and Devon Seafood Grill in Rittenhouse Square.

Sokoloff said the clear ice doesn’t just look pretty; it also makes the drinks taste better because it dilutes them more.
