Hollywood isn’t short on stars with Philadelphia roots, and two have been nominated for an Academy Awards, writes Max Bennett for The Patch.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Colman Domingo, and Bradley Cooper were all announced as nominees for the 96th Academy Awards in March.

Randolph is being nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “The Holdovers.”

She previously earned a Golden Globe Award for the role earlier this year. 

Randolph is a Philadelphia native raised in Mount Airy who earned her bachelor’s degree from Temple University — which is also the case for Domingo.

Domingo has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his role as socialist civil rights icon Bayard Rustin in “Rustin.”

The Philadelphia native is also an Overbrook High School graduate before attending Temple.

Cooper is earning nominations for his film, “Maestro.”

The Germantown Academy graduate is being nominated for Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Original Screenplay.
